Tim Gunn on DC Style
Reported by Allicia
The fifth annual “Fashion Fights Poverty” benefit will take place at the Mayflower Hotel tomorrow evening to wrap up the global celebration of “Fashion’s Night Out” shows and events in the District.
Last week, Washington Life magazine interviewed DC native, Tim Gunn (Bravo’s Project Beltway) before the festivities kicked off at All Access: Fashion at Tyson’s Galleria. He discussed current trends, the First family, the Kennedys and DC style in the featured video below. He praised Michelle Obama’s fashion and said that, “if we all just watched the Obamas and take lessons from them, things will be much better here” in terms of how to wear what looks and fits well on an individual.
As the Fashion industry continues to embrace the District’s style, could DC actually gain a “Fashion Caucus” momentum on Capitol Hill?

This is awesome. I think DC is really developing a true style identity — it’s a very classic American look, but definitely younger and fresher then ever before. Although, I do think we need to thank J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons for making it accessible.
