As mentioned in a previous post, Taylor Gourmet will have a grand opening on October 15th.

ReadysetDC was invited to the pre-opening of Taylor Gourmet‘s new location at 5th + K, in the CityVista development. Already a hit among many locals, the Italian-style deli and market, served up sandwiches and signature hoagies in the Atlas District from lunch to 3 AM to serve the busy lunch and late night crowds. Within a few weeks of opening Taylor Gourmet, news had traveled fast about David Mazza’s and Casey Patten’s spot on H Street. Known for their signature sandwiches and hoagies, they had successfully introduced and brought DC back to the wonderful flavors of Philly they once experienced in their hometown. Now as transplants to DC, David and Casey opens a second spot in Mount Vernon Triangle.

Despite being located in a newly constructed building, as opposed to a historic rowhouse, the design of the deli stays true to the original. The much higher ceilings left room for very interesting lighting elements. The main entrance takes you directly to the counter and kitchen area. With higher ceilings comes a much larger garage door, which will allow natural lighting into the space, as well as an opening to the outdoor patio for seating during warm days.

In addition to having the finest ingredients and breads shipped from Philly’s Sarcone’s Bakery each morning, the ambiance at Taylor Gourmet transcends to their staff and industrial interior design. The Italian Market also features imported and domestic products, including cured meats, pasta, cheeses and thirty different types of wines from regional parts of Italy.

If you’re in the mood for hoagies, Taylor Gourmet offers a wide array of distinctive ingredients and signature sandwiches named after streets in Philly. The bread is not drenched in oil to overwhelm the flavors and ingredients. The Rocky risotto balls and spicy peppers on the side completes the meal as well. By far, the best damn sandwiches in the city!

Taylor Gourmet will not disappoint your appetite or wallet. The prices are suitable for anyone in the city who is open to trying delectable sandwiches and hoagies (not to be confused with subs from a famous chain).

Taylor Gourmet is a great addition to the booming retail business in the CityVista development. The buzz is out! This place will likely have lines wrapped around the block but it will be worth the wait!
