The Fun House
Thursday, October 29, 2009, 7:00 and 8:00 pm
Hamiltonian Gallery is pleased to present The Fun House, a performance by Bettmann Dances, on Thursday, October 29, 2009. We will run two, 30-minute performances commencing at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
The Fun House, derived from All Good Men, a recent Bettmann Dances theater performance, draws from a Dylan Thomas literary work – a murderous tale of grave robbers and medical doctors involved in the sale of human bodies. The Fun House is a contemporary dance piece set in the unique confines of the gallery space. The performance is made up of six dancer “stations” dotted throughout the gallery and lit by floor lamps. Set to classical scores, contemporary music and recorded speeches, the “stations” act as nonlinear vignettes to express the complex themes of discrimination, empowerment and Faustian dilemmas.
Rachel Merga will be reprising her role from All Good Men in this production of The Fun House, and will be joined by Emily Horton, Marisha Bourgeois, Vernon Gooden, and Robert Bettmann.
Tickets for the 7 pm show are $5.00 and will be available for sale at the door on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Tickets for the 8 pm show are $20, which includes a post-performance reception with the artists and may be purchased ahead of time by contacting the gallery.
