Splitting the Difference

The body is like a sentence that invites us to reimagine it, so that its real meaning becomes clear through an endless series of anagrams.

The newest piece by cutting-edge DC-based choreographer, Kelly Bond, is being performed as part of the fallFRINGE which is featuring three favorite prior Fringe performers in order to raise proceeds for the future of the Capital Fringe Festival held every summer in DC.
Splitting the Difference explores ideas of self and subject by presenting a history of the body through the lens of spectacle and image. This choreographic solo workproposes an alien body, a trained body, a historical body–all with an acute awareness of the subject within. Using physical sensation and text to connect to its spectator empathetically, an opening is created through which the viewer can ask: What would an anagram of my own body look like? Splitting the Difference creates an anagram of the body through an arrangement of segments or actions. No segment alone gives a cohesive picture of the body, but by seeing the segments in a certain order, one can gain an understanding of a body’s histories, happenings, and undertakings that have contributed to its current state.

Hi, Kelly,
Great to meet you Tuesday at Dance DC event.
So sorry I have so many shows to catch up with this weekend I won’t make them all anyway and sad to miss yours this time around (beyond butts in seats, ha ha), but I hope you have great shows.
I would like to get in contact with you, but cannot find email or anything.
You can check my myspace page above, or I am on Facebook.
Hope to be in contact.
Thanks,
~~Hilary
