Words w/ Tittsworth
Its been fun seeing local DJ hero Tittsworth take the world by storm these past few years. Besides the thrill of seeing a local guy make it big, its good to see such a talented producer and dj (not to mention one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet) get recognized for his talent and hard work.
Tittsworth headlines ReadysetDC’s Launch Party tomorrow, and we’re pretty damn excited to hear his set…trust us, you don’t want to miss it. We recently caught up with Titts to talk about DC’s music scene, his new club opening next year, and what we can expect from his set. Words, after the jump.

The Other Pink Line Project
The truly awesome national transit blog Transport Politic has been spending a lot of time covering the DC area lately, with posts on the Corridor Cities Transitway, the proposed DC Streetcar system, the Purple Line, and the Silver Line. Now, they’ve taken the favorite local hobby of creating fantasy Metro maps to the next level [...]
One Less Empty Lot on 14th Street
Despite the largest recession in decades, development along DC’s 14th street corridor marches ever onward. This time, we’ll be saying goodbye to the empty lot at 14th and R streets NW, as a 7 story mixed-use condominium from Bonstra Haresign architects takes its place.
14th and R
Modeled after the “showrooms of the former automobile row”, [...]
Modern Warfare 2 Released, DC Blows Up Again
Yesterday was a big day for DC in pop culture, and not just because of the long awaited release of Wale’s Attention Deficit album. The latest sequel in the long-running Call of Duty franchise Modern Warfare 2 was released in what is poised to be the biggest video game launch ever. What does this have [...]
Hill Rag Can’t See the Streetcar for the Trees

As the DC’s streetcar plans begin to take shape, most of the debate seems to be centered around the question: “Will the system use overhead wires?”
We’re big fans of streetcars at ReadysetDC, and would be happy to see DC’s system built, wires or no. That being said, despite a current ban on overhead wires [...]
Massive West End Project Takes Shape
If you’ve used the Foggy Bottom Metro lately or picked up some pre-made deliciousness from Trader Joe’s, you’ve likely noticed the garden of construction cranes near GW University and Hospital. While the groundbreaking for the ‘Square 54’ project took place back in May, the most of the construction up until now took place below ground [...]
Words w/ Harry Ransom + Exclusive Mix
I went out and bought a sampler. I didn’t know how to use it for a year. It was the world’s most expensive paperweight.
Have a conversation with anyone who knows DC’s dance music scene and the name Harry Ransom will eventually come up. From his sets with Step Syndicate to his canonical DCDNB listserve, to [...]
Review: Wallpaper. @ DC9
Photos by Paul Frederiksen
Erik Frederic was nowhere to be found during Wallpaper’s set Monday night at DC9. Instead, the man who took the stage for the relatively short but explosive set was instead his bombastic gold-chain, sunglasses wearing alter-ego, Ricky Reed. Opening with Notorious B.I.G.’s Big Papa, it was apparent from the get-go that the night [...]
ReadysetDC Interviews: Wallpaper.
Man these sandwiches are so fuckin’ good. Goddamn.”
Eric Frederic, Oct. 26, 2009, Dupont Potbelly’s
I’m sitting in Potbellies at Connecticut & R, with Eric Frederic (aka Ricky Reed) and Arjun Singh of Wallpaper, watching them destroy a couple of sandwiches in record time. Their new tour has brought them to DC, and they’ve clearly worked up [...]
A Solid Plan for the DC Streetcar Network
Image: District Department of Transportation
Last night, DDOT revealed their new proposed streetcar system plan at DC’s Transit Future meeting in Ward 6, the first of eight meetings- one for each ward. New materials were also posted online. Given the slow progress that’s been made over the last few years and the increasingly low expectations, the [...]

Gabe Klein Drops Some (Very Good) Hints
Photo: WashCycle
DC Mud posted an interview with District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Gabe Klein last Thursday, chock full of tantalizing hints about DDOT’s new priorities and upcoming projects. According to Klein, he’s “gotten his feet under him” during his first 6 months as Director, and has led DDOT in assembling a strategic vision that [...]
Copenhagenize Gives DC Some Love
Photo: Copenhagenize
Euro bike-blog Copenhagenize recently gave DC a thumbs up for its bike infrastructure improvements. Apparently we’re not doing too bad:
Let’s forget also for a moment the fact that many of the two-wheeled citizens have yet to master the infrastructure and instead choose to dance precariously all over the shop with little regard for the [...]
Silver Line Construction Cruising Along
If you haven’t been out to Tysons or Dulles lately, you’d probably be surprised at how far the construction of the Silver Line has come in the past few months. Massive concrete supports are now taking shape near the West Falls Church Metro. A 2,400 ft. tunnel in Tysons Corner is well underway. Perhaps most [...]
Rethinking K Street
Yes, that is a rendering of a streetcar to Georgetown. Do we have your attention now?
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has been kicking around the idea of reconfiguring K Street since 2004, but is just now putting the project on the front burner thanks to the lure of federal stimulus funds. K Street’s current [...]
New Convention Center Exhibit Features Local Artists
The Washington Convention Center is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:00pm next Tuesday September 29 for Windows Into DC – a new art exhibit sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Mayor Fenty and will be in attendance, as will members of the City Council.
While the Convention Center is already [...]
PARK(ing) Day DC 2009: Success!
Despite a last minute venue change due to a obfuscated public space permitting process (and perhaps our overly optimistic idea that the DC government might want to be included in an important, international event), PARK(ing) Day DC was an unequivocal success.
Friday morning at the crack of dawn, Justin, Brandon and I shleped out to to Chantilly, [...]
DC Streetcar Update
At last Thursday’s Q&A discussion at the Atlas Theater, DDOT Director Gabe Klein threw out a few tantalizing tidbits of information about the future of streetcars in DC, all the while keeping his cards close to his chest on some key details. After hearing Klein speak to the packed room of over 100 people, here’s [...]
