Sweetgreen’s Jonathan and Nate met up with ReadysetDC to discuss their latest expansion: to the Logan Circle neighborhood. “It’s perfect here, right?” Jonathan tells us. “We started three years ago out of Georgetown, having fun trying to create a cool, local brand.” Now, Jonathan thinks that Sweetgreen Logan will be his best store yet. “It’s a natural community for our ideal customer. The area is young and vibrant and people really appreciate healthy living and the arts. In fact, I’ll probably move here.” (more…)

“Fashion Takes Flight” for Luke’s Wings.
I will be walking in a fashion show fundraiser for the organization Luke’s Wings. Luke’s Wings is a great cause dedicated to the support of service members who have been wounded in battle. “Recognizing the immediate need for families to be with their loved ones during such a difficult time, Luke’s Wings provides families with the means to visit during the service member’s hospitalization and rehabilitation.”
Hosted by WUSA 9’s Angie Goff, the event will feature cocktails, hors d’eourves, and a silent auction. Models and military service men and women ‘take flight’ in a swank, high energy runway exhibition highlighting cutting edge fashion from Washington’s best boutiques and collections by the District’s premier designers. Make it out if you can, it should be a fun event!

As February as the slowest month in DC tourism, “Date Nights DC” will promote the city’s culture and dining scene. The agency hopes to increase foot traffic in Washington [...]
Tweeting to DC’s Hungry Residents

Technology has certainly influenced our lives in ways beyond traditional communication methods. Social networking is no longer for just friends and families to stay in touch with one another but also a great tool for connecting local businesses to their customers. With the rise of new media, many entrepreneurs have started to utilized online social networking websites like Twitter or Facebook to engage with their market.
Last year, street food in major cities across the country experienced a new way to dine out in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco as well as Washington. In DC, food vendors have been located in the bustling intersection of famous buildings, monuments and museums along the National Mall by serving half-smokes, egg rolls, pizza, ice cream to tacos and more. Food trucks became transit around the District in 2007 and the trend of tweeting food trucks emerged on the Internet last year.

Patty Boom BOOM!
Patty Boom Boom is now open! We were able to check it out last night at the friends and family preview. The first level serves as a standard Caribbean carry-out, although with the ambiance of a modern coffeeshop, with various patties ready to devour. Upstairs is the bar and lounge. While there is no food upstairs, you can purchase downstairs and bring it up with you.
Dim Sum in the District
Ping Pong Dim Sum made it’s official U.S. debut a few weeks ago in DC, located between the Convention Center and Verizon Center on 7th street in Chinatown/Shaw. As the very first location in the States, Ping Pong Dim Sum delivers a contemporary take on Chinese dim sum by introducing Washington to a 21st century tea house and dim sum experience.

“Flavor Tripping” at EFN Lounge
Last night EFN Lounge (formerly BeBar) played host to DC’s first “Flavor Tripping”, an event centered around the effects of the Trippy Fruit Berry (Synsepalum Dulcificum). Discovered in 1725 in Western Africa, the seed of the fruit contains a molecule called maraculin, which binds to the tongue’s taste buds causing a temporary shift of certain flavors.
